School and Community: Olean City School District draws its student body from a diverse population of Olean’s 13,500 residents.  Several factories, small and large industries and a hospital are located within the city.  The Cattaraugus County campus of Jamestown Community College is located in the city.  St. Bonaventure University, which offers undergraduate and graduate programs, is nearby.

Enrollment: approx. 655 Students, Grades 8-12.

School Year: 180 instructional days, four -10 week quarters, eight, 46 minute periods daily. The school day is from 8:00 a.m.-2:46 p.m.

Class Rank: Calculated the 3rd quarter of the senior year.  All courses are included.

Graduation Requirements: 

Students need 22 units to graduate.  All students must complete:  four units of English, four units of social studies, three units of math, three units of science, one unit of a foreign language, one unit of art or music, one half unit of health, and two units of physical education, in addition to electives.  Students electing to receive a Regents or Advanced Regents diploma must meet additional testing requirements.

Course Selection:

Olean High School offers a wide range of course selections and special programs including Project Lead the Way (Engineering), a Business department with CTE endorsement, Art, Language, Career and Technical Education at BOCES, and an exceptional Music Department.

Special Education Services:

Olean City School District provides an array of special education services at the elementary, middle and high school levels including Resource, Consultant Teacher, Physical Therapy, Counseling, Speech Therapy, Autism Services, and Occupational Therapy. 

College Acceptance:

At Olean High School students are challenged to take the most rigorous course schedule available. Enrollment:  approximately 690 students, grades PK-3, elementary placement is based on the student's residential address.

School Year: Four-10 week quarters, the school day is from 7:50 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

After School Programs: The elementary buildings offer a variety of after school programs including Kids Zone, YCARE, and Homework Helpers.  Parents can sign students up to be involved in after school activities where students can participate in games, activities and receive help with homework.
