The History Department at Olean High School, led by Mrs. Katie Wolfgang and Mrs. Katie Coulter is excited to take our 8th grade students on a class trip to Washington, DC this spring. Students will travel by coach bus from Olean for a three-day, two-night tour of our nation’s capital. Estimated cost per student is between $200 and $300 with scheduled monthly payment deadlines.

To qualify for this trip, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Less than 12 unexcused absences ​
  • No out-of-school suspensions and fewer than 3 days of in-school suspension ​
  • Less than 5 discipline referrals​
  • No truancy from school for any period of time​
  • Be in good academic standing (passing all classes with a 65% or better)
  • Deposit of $50 per student by Friday, September 26, 2025 (checks payable to Olean High School)
  • Additional monthly installment payments of $50 are due on October 31 and November 21, with final payment due no later than December 19, 2025 (final amount still to be determined based on number of confirmed travelers)

The intent is to provide a safe and educational trip for all students. Administration reserves the right to deny travel to any student deemed unsafe to travel due to behavior that could compromise the safety of themselves or others.

Forms along with the $50 deposit (checks payable to Olean High School) are due no later than Friday, September 26th to Mrs. Katie Wolfgang in Room #230 at Olean High School.

Tentative Itinerary:

Day 1 Hello Washington 

  • Leave for Washington, D.C. aboard a deluxe motorcoach with a stop enroute for lunch
  • Arrive at Arlington National Cemetery and meet our tour guide
  • Drive around Iwo Jima
  • Visit the memorials
  • Photo stop at Washington Monument
  • Photo stop at the White House
  • Dinner cruise on the Potomac
  • Hotel check in with 6 hours of private floor security

Day 2 Washington, D.C.  

  • Breakfast
  • International Spy Museum
  • Holocaust Museum exhibit “Daniel’s Story”
  • Smithsonian Museums
  • Mount Vernon
  • Dinner at the Hard Rock Café
  • Shear Madness play at the Kennedy Center
  • Return to hotel with 6 hours of private floor security

Day 3 Washington, D.C.  

  • Breakfast and hotel checkout
  • US Capitol Tour
  • Group photo
  • Metro ride
  • Ford’s Theater
  • Lunch at the Reagan Building
  • Leave for home with a stop enroute for dinner

  • 2 overnight stays in hotels with private bathrooms

  • Full‐time services of a professional Tour Director
  • Guided sightseeing tours and city walks as per itinerary
